The Claude Pepper Center at Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL

The Claude Pepper Center honors and preserves the personal and political legacy of Claude Pepper (1900-1989), a politician whose career spanned nearly five decades in the U.S. Congress. He served in both the House and the Senate and devoted himself to helping those greatest in need. He supported the New Deal, a fair and equitable minimum wage, equal rights for minorities and women, Social Security and Medicare, the rights of the elderly, and other just causes.

The Claude Pepper Center serves as the headquarters of the Claude Pepper Foundation, Claude Pepper Center, Claude Pepper Library, Claude Pepper Museum, and the Pepper Institute on Aging and Public Policy.

My Pepper Memorial Window in the lobby of the Claude Pepper Center is a research-based collage, filled with information about Pepper's life and his accomplishments. The piece is an arch surrounding the entrance. The sides are 32"x 7'x 1/2". The top is 20"x12' x 1/2".

The material is arranged thematically, e.g. human rights, health care, etc. and it includes excerpts from speeches and documents, as well as awards, memorabilia, and photos, with a border of local leaves.

It has a formal composition but is very energetic.
